First Chirp: A Dynamic Adventure in Music for JK, SK & Grade 1 Students

Come experience First Chirp, our own internationally acclaimed music education program specifically created for JK, SK & Grade 1 students and their parents. The First Chirp program will encourage a passion for singing, and enhance freedom of expression and confidence… an amazing start to a musical journey that will last a lifetime! This program has a fixed registration that always reaches capacity! Note please that students must be accepted to the program before completing registration.

Michelle Rawlins is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music. As a co-founder of the Upper Canada Chorus, Michelle is recognized internationally as a leader in primary music education. She is the mother of 4 First Chirp graduates!

All rehearsals are conducted at our historic Heintzman House studios, centrally located off Yonge St. just south of Hwy 407.

Registration Process

Availability in the First Chirp program is limited!

Michelle Rawlins meets with all prospective applicants to the First Chirp program prior to enrolment. Please email admin@uppercanadachorus.com to schedule a ‘Meet with Us’ session. Michelle will lead the student through a mini private lesson and have an opportunity to discuss the most suitable path forward with parents. After receiving formal admission to First Chirp for fall 2026, please complete the registration form below.

First Chirp Registration - 2026

  • First Chirp is an interactive exploration of music for children and parents. A parent or guardian is expected to be in attendance at each class, and to assist in creating a positive, controlled atmosphere for all participants. In the unlikely event a student or parent becomes too disruptive in the class setting, UCC reserves the right to remove participants permanently. First Chirp is a commitment for the full season. Refunds will not be granted.
