Living Arts: Equipping Students with the Power of Communication
Unlock a passion for the arts, and encourage communicative skills in your child. Living Arts is a singing-centric arts exploration for students in grades 1-3, and serves as a foundations program for the Upper Canada Chorus.
We believe that all forms of artistic expression support each other and enrich the overall development of each child. Our desire is to tap into the natural enthusiasm for discovery in every child and transform it into a lifelong passion to pursue deeper learning and growth.
As students actively engage in a diversity of art forms, they deepen their understanding of the world around them, and develop a keen capacity to communicate within it. For us, it all starts with the voice. Our goal is to produce great communicators, so we seek first to develop strong vocal skills through singing. And, by integrating different art forms into the choral landscape, we improve comprehension and long term retention, promote healthy risk taking, creativity, collaboration, mutual respect, expression, and confidence.
Living Arts incorporates aspects of the Royal Conservatory vocal and theory programs. We encourage students to begin Royal Conservatory grades in conjunction with Living Arts, and continue their journey with the Upper Canada Chorus for higher level RCM grades. The UCC concert season provides the learning context for Living Arts registrants. All students will have the opportunity to perform in each of the 4 seasonal UCC concerts.
